R-MC Women's Tennis Voted Second in ODAC Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – Ahead of the 2017 women’s tennis season, the ODAC released the Spring Preseason Poll, voted on by the ODAC coaches. The R-MC women’s team was voted to second place with 109 points and one first place vote.

R-MC finished the 2016 season with a 17-2 overall and 9-1 conference record, placing second in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets also reached the ODAC Championship finals. The team started off the season winning 16 straight games.

In first place is Washington and Lee, who won the 2016 ODAC Championship. Behind R-MC in the top six was voted: Roanoke, Bridgewater, Lynchburg and Emory & Henry.

R-MC will be led by a strong senior class that has been part of the most succesful years in women's tennis at R-MC. The team will be led by Alex Byrd (La Plata, Md./ La Plata), Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./ K-12 International Academy), Kelsie Grice (Hoover, Al./ Charlotte Country Day), Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill), Toni McDonald and Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George). 

The R-MC women’s tennis team will start season play on February 25th with a home match against St. Mary’s (Md.) at 1 p.m.
