Women's Tennis Finishes Second in the ODAC with 6-3 Win over BC

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's team clinched second place in the ODAC by beating Bridgewater 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

R-MC finishes the regular season 15-2 overall with a 10-1 ODAC record. 

Senior Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina) led the Jackets, winning her doubles and singles matches.

R-MC trailed 2-1 to the Eagles after doubles. Senior Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, Va./ K-12 International Academy) and McDonald won at #1 doubles 9-8. R-MC won 7-2 in the tiebreaker to take the point.

In singles, R-MC won at flights two through six. Sophomore Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va./ York) won 6-4, 6-3. Senior Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) won at number three 6-0, 6-2.

At number four, freshman Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va./ York) picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Senior Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill) won a thrilling three set match at number five. She dropped the first set the Whitney Cash 6-2, then won set two 6-1. She then clinched the point by winning the third set 6-1.

McDonald picked up the win at number six singles, she won 6-4, 6-0. 

R-MC will be the number two seed in the ODAC Tournament and host the #7 seed at the Banks Tennis Center. ODAC play will finish up this weekend and pairings will be set Sunday night.

R-MC will host the semifinals and finals of the ODAC Tournament at the Banks Tennis Center on May 6 & 7.
