Seniors Send R-MC Women's Tennis to Victory

ASHLAND, Va. – Four R-MC seniors led the women's tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of Emory & Henry on senior day. Seniors Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./ K-12 International Academy), Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina), Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill) and Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) all won their doubles and singles matches over the Wasps.

In doubles, Delmas and McDonald won 8-1 at number one. Jesseman and Tomlin picked up another victory to add to their four year doubles team record, winning 8-1 at number two. Freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial) and sophomore Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va./ Robinson Secondary) won 8-0 at number three doubles.

In singles, Delmas beat the number one Emory & Henry player without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0.

Sophomore Gaby Tersigni picked up a win for R-MC at number two singles. Tomlin and freshman Kristin Dantzler won their singles matches 6-0, 6-1. Jesseman won her match 6-4, 6-1 and McDonald won at number six 6-2, 6-0.

Delmas, McDonald, Tomlin, Jesseman and senior Alex Byrd (La Plata, Md./ La Plata) were all recognized for their accomplishments at R-MC and the success of the women's program after the match.

The R-MC women's team are now ranked #18 by the ITA in the Atlantic South region and have an overall record of 13-2 and 8-1 in the ODAC.

R-MC will be back in action on Wednesday, April 15 with a road trip to Va. Wesleyan.
