Women's Tennis Earns 7-2 Victory over Randolph

ASHLAND, Va. – The R-MC women's tennis team improved to 12-2 and 7-1 in the ODAC with a 7-2 win over third place Randolph on Saturday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center.

The Yellow Jackets took a 2-1 advantage after doubles. The senior team of Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill) took down Ashley Schmitz and Jenna Sweet 8-4 at the number two doubles spot.

Also winning was the pair of freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial) and sophomore Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va./ Robinson Secondary), winning 8-2 at #3.

In the number one singles spot, senior Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./ K-12 International Academy) beat Keyu Jin 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

At number two, sophomore Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va./ York) beat Aubrey Hawn 6-4, 6-2. Picking up their second victories of the day were Tomlin and Jesseman, winning 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-4 respectively.

Senior Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina) won for R-MC at number six singles 6-1, 6-2.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action April 12 for a road ODAC match versus Va. Wesleyan.
