Tomlin Clinches 6-3 Victory over N.C. Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Senior Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) clinched a 6-3 victory for the women's tennis team over N.C. Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.

Randolph-Macon remains undefeated at 4-0 to start the season. The Battling Bishops fall to 0-2.

Tomlin earned the fifth point for the Yellow Jackets, winning 6-2 7-5 over Stephany Barbera at the number three singles spot.

R-MC took a 2-1 lead after doubles with seniors Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./ K-12 International Academy) and Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina) winning 9-7 at the number one spot. Picking up the second point was the duo of sophomore Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va./ Robinson Secondary) and freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial) who won 8-3 at the three spot.

At singles, Delmas picked up her second win of the match beating number one Florencia Sorrentino 6-4 6-1. Sophomore Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va./ York) won at the number two spot with a convincing 6-2 6-3 victory over Nicole Halabi.

Finally, winning at the number six spot was McDonald who won 6-1 and won the second set without losing a game.

R-MC will be back in action on Saturday, March 11 with an ODAC match against Guilford.
