FOREST, Va. - The Randolph-Macon women's swimming team was voted second in the ODAC Preseason Poll, as voted by the league's head coaches and released by the conference office.
Washington & Lee received 11 first place votes and 121 points to claim the top spot. The Yellow Jackets garnered the remaining first place vote and recorded 109 points to sit in second. Emory & Henry was third with 97 points, one ahead of Bridgewater and followed by Roanoke, Hollins, Sweet Briar, Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph, Ferrum, Greensboro and Guilford.
R-MC finished second at the 2017 ODAC Championships and the Yellow Jackets return 10 all-conference performers. Junior Lindsei Hamilton (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley) and sophomore Laney Sanchez (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) were both All-ODAC Second Team a season ago. Hamilton was an All-ODAC Third Team selection in 2016.
The Yellow Jackets had seven swimmers earn All-ODAC Third Team honors in 2017: seniors Megan Granger (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) and Savannah Pierce (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne), junior Haylie Moore (Lexington, N.C./South Davidson) and sophomores Zoe Campbell (Annandale, Va./W.T. Woodson), Abbey Crank (North Chesterfield, Va./James River), Lauren McCoy (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) and Kacey Pool (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch). Granger was also All-ODAC Third Team in 2016.
Junior Kata Kylliainen (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) was All-ODAC First Team as a freshman in 2016.
Under seven-year head coach Brent Kintzer, Randolph-Macon begins competition on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the ODAC Relay Meet in Lexington, Va. Dual meets get underway the following weekend, with the Yellow Jackets traveling to Mary Washington on Friday, Oct. 20 and hosting Washington & Lee on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
