Kylliainen Contributes to R-MC Women's Swimming Win over Marymount 129-75

Kata Kylliainen diving into pool

ASHLAND, Va. - Junior Kata Kylliainen (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) earned three first-place finishes as the Randolph-Macon women's swimming team outscored Marymount 129-75 Saturday afternoon.

Kylliainen won the first individual event, the 1000 Free, in 11:16.03. She finished first in the 500 Free in 5:28.75. Kylliainen teamed with senior Megan Granger (Midlothian, Va./Manchester), sophomore Lauren McCoy (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) and sophomore Kacey Pool (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) to win the 200 Free Relay in 1:46.98.

Sophomore Laney Sanchez (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) won the 200 IM in 2:21.47. She took second in the 200 Breast in 2:41.19. Sanchez joined McCoy, sophomore Zoe Campbell (Annandale, Va./WT Woodson) and junior Haylie Moore (Lexington, N.C./South Davidson) to win the 200 Medley Relay in 1:59.01.

Campbell won the 200 Fly in 2:18.63.

Granger finished second in the 50 Free in 26.94, followed by Moore in third at 27.30.

Pool won the 200 Back in 2:18.55, followed by McCoy in second at 2:23.82 and Granger in third in 2:24.95. Pool was second in the 200 Free in 2:05.41, followed by freshman Grace Landolt (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley) in third in 2:06.36.

Landolt was second in the 100 Free in 58.77, followed by freshman Caroline Pifer (Lutherville, Md./Notre Dame Prep) in third in 59.31. Landolt was third in the 200 Breast in 2:45.23.

Junior Lindsei Hamilton (Roanoke Va./Hidden Valley) took third in the 1000 Free in 12:11.99. She was also third in the 200 Fly in 2:27.37.

Sophomore Abbey Crank (North Chesterfield, Va./James River) was third in the 200 IM in 2:25.65.

Randolph-Macon returns to the poll on Dec. 1 and 2, hosting the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center in Chesterfield, Va.
