Sanchez Leads R-MC on Day 2 of ODAC Swim Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman Laney Sanchez (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) helped the Randolph-Macon women's swimming team hold onto second place out of nine teams on Saturday evening on Day 2 of the 2017 ODAC Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Sanchez placed third in the 100 Breast in 1:07.84, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season

In the 800 Free Relay, Sanchez teamed with senior Sierra Collins (Ronda, N.C./Salem Academy), junior Megan Granger (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) and freshman Kacey Pool (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) to finish second in 8:10.07.

In the 200 Medley Relay, Sanchez and Pool swam with freshmen Lauren McCoy (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) and Zoe Campbell (Annandale, Va./W.T. Woodson) to take third in 1:51.69.

Campbell took fifth in the 100 Fly in 1:01.08, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season. Sophomore Haylie Moore (Lexington, N.C./South Davidson) was sixth in the 100 Fly in 1:02.31.

Freshman Abbey Crank (North Chesterfield, Va./James River) finished fifth in the 400 IM in 4:52.50, which was a top time for R-MC this season.

Granger took sixth in the 200 Free in 2:00.04. Junior Savannah Pierce (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) was seventh in the 200 Free in 2:04.55.

McCoy was sixth in the 100 Back in 1:00.72, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season. Pool was eighth in the 100 Back in 1:01.01

The third and final day of the ODAC Swimming Championships will be held on Sunday, Feb. 12.
