Pierce Places Second Twice as R-MC Falls at Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior Savannah Pierce (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) recorded a pair of second-place finishes as the Randolph-Macon women's swimming team dropped a 131-73 decision at Division I Howard on Friday evening.

Pierce was runner-up in the 1000 Free in 11:40.91. She was also second in the 500 Free in 5:47.40.

Freshmen Kacey Pool (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and Laney Sanchez (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) each had one second-place finish and one third-place finish.

Pool took second in the 100 Back in 1:03.50. She was third in the 50 Free in 25.80, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season.

Sanchez placed second in the 200 Free in 2:03.92. She finished third in the 100 Breast in 1:12.92.

Junior Megan Granger (Midlothian, Va./Manchester was second in the 100 Free in 56.24.

Freshman Abbey Crank (North Chesterfield, Va./James River) took second in the 100 IM in 1:07.00.

Sophomore Haylie Moore (Lexington, N.C./South Davidson) finished third in the 100 Fly in 1:06.50.

Randolph-Macon returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Catholic at 1 p.m.
