CHESTERFIELD, Va. - Sophomore Kata Kylliainen (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) finished sixth out of 58 swimmers for the Randolph-Macon women's swimming team on Friday afternoon on Day 1 of the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center.
R-MC is seventh out of 10 in the team standings.
Kylliainen completed the 500 Free in 5:12.99, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season.
In the first event of the meet, Kylliainen teamed with freshman Lauren McCoy (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River), junior Megan Granger (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) and freshman Kacey Pool (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) to take sixth out of 24 squads in the 200 Free Relay in 1:41.37.
Freshman Abbey Crank (North Chesterfield, Va./James River) finished 13th out of 41 competitors in the 200 IM in a time of 2:18.43, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season.
In the 50 Free, Pool was 20th out of 88 swimmers in the 50 Free in 25.84, a top time for R-MC this season.
In the day's final event, McCoy and Pool joined freshman Laney Sanchez (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) and freshman Zoe Campbell (Annandale, Va./W.T. Woodson) to finish ninth out of 23 teams in the 400 Medley Relay in 4:11.88.
The final two sessions of the 2016 Yellow Jacket Invitational will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3. Session 2 will begin at 9 a.m., while the third session is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
