ASHLAND, Va. - Senior Courtney Taylor (Prince George, Va./Prince George) was one of six different players to score a goal and junior Mary Virginia Kelley (Midlothian, Va./James River) registered a pair of assists as the Randolph-Macon women's soccer team recorded a 6-0 win over Randolph in ODAC action Wednesday afternoon on the R-MC Soccer Field.
The Yellow Jackets (4-3-1, 1-1 ODAC) outshot the Wildcats (2-5-1, 0-2 ODAC) 30-3, including 17-0 in the second half.
Junior Jenna Burns (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) put a rebounded shot into the net in the 12th minute to start the scoring for R-MC. Kelley had a shot off the crossbar to set up the goal by Burns and earned the assist.
Freshman Abby Davis (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) scored on a free kick from 22 yards out in the 30th minute to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore Gabby Nelson (Clover, Va./Halifax County) nailed an unassisted goal in the 37th minute as R-MC took a 3-0 lead at intermission.
Taylor finished another shot off the crossbar by Kelley for her first collegiate goal in the 49th minute to extend the R-MC lead to 4-0. Freshman Meghan Skevington (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) added a goal in the 50th minute and senior Kasey Martino (Centreville, Va./Centreville) converted a penalty kick in the 71st minute to make the final 6-0.
Sophomore Christina Newman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) recorded a pair of saves in the first half for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 30, with a 1 p.m. home ODAC contest against Guilford on Day Field as part of Family Weekend at R-MC.
