WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sophomore Christina Newman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) recorded 10 saves as the Randolph-Macon women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Catholic on Sunday afternoon on Day 2 of the DC Classic.
Newman had five saves in the first half and five in the second half for the Yellow Jackets (1-2-1).
The Cardinals (3-1) had their first goal in the 29th minute and led 1-0 at intermission. Catholic added an insurance goal in the 78th minute to make the final 2-0.
Catholic held a 22-10 advantage in shots. Freshman Casey Kent (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) led R-MC with four shots, of which two were on goal. Sophomore Gabby Nelson (Clover, Va./Halifax County) had two shots, both on goal. Freshman Meghan Skevington (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) also had two shots for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 13, for a 4:30 p.m. match at Mary Washington.
