Skevington Scores Twice for R-MC Women's Soccer in 3-1 Win over PSUH

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Freshman Meghan Skevington (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) netted her first two collegiate goals as the Randolph-Macon women's soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over Penn State Harrisburg Saturday afternoon on Day 1 of the DC Classic on the campus of Catholic University.

The Lions (3-1) scored in the 14th minute as PSUH took the early lead. Skevington evened the match in the 24th minute and gave the Yellow Jackets (1-1-1) a 2-1 lead on her second goal in the 41st minute.

Junior Jenna Burns (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) tallied an insurance goal for R-MC in the 68th minute, assisted by freshman Casey Kent (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) as the Yellow Jackets claimed a 3-1 win.

R-MC held a 22-6 advantage in shots, including 15-3 in shots on goal. Skevington and Kent paced the victors with five shots each. Skevington had four shots on goal, while Kent added three.

Sophomore Christina Newman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) recorded a pair of saves for the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon plays host Catholic on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
