LEXINGTON, Va. - Senior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) registered eight saves as the second-seeded Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team dropped a 7-3 decision to top-seeded and second-ranked Washington & Lee Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the 2017 ODAC Tournament.
Walker had four saves in each half for the Yellow Jackets (11-6). She also topped the team with three ground balls. Walker was named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team as R-MC played in the title game for the third consecutive year.
The Generals (16-1) tallied the first five goals of the game before sophomore Saunders Riley (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) scored on an assist by freshman Mary Castle (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) with 42 seconds left to make it 5-1 at intermission.
Senior Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) scored two minutes into the second half on an assist by senior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) to make it a 5-2 contest. After a W&L goal, senior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) recorded a player-up goal on an assist by Cornbrooks to make it 6-3 with 8:45 remaining. W&L had its final goal with just over five minutes remaining to make the final 7-3.
Snee paced the Yellow Jackets with five draw controls.
Joining Walker on the ODAC All-Tournament Team were Cornbrooks and sophomore Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County).
