HAVERFORD, Pa. - Junior Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led her team with four goals as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-10 contest at Haverford on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) scored 59 seconds into the game on an assist by sophomore by Saunders Riley (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) and Hsieh netted her first goal three seconds later as the Yellow Jackets (1-1) took a quick 2-0 lead. The Fords (1-2) would tally five straight goals and eight of the next nine to go ahead 8-3 with 11:18 left in the first half. R-MC would score three of the final four goals in the period, including one by Hsieh with five seconds left as the Yellow Jackets trailed 9-6 at intermission.
Haverford registered the first two goals of the second half to increase its lead to 11-6. Hsieh scored two of R-MC's next three goals as the visitors pulled within two at 11-9 midway through the second half. The Fords would record the next five goals to lead 16-9 before a goal by sophomore Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) with just under two minutes left made the final 16-10.
Snee finished with two goals, while Riley and junior Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) both registered a pair of assists for R-MC.
Hsieh led the Yellow Jackets with four ground balls. Hsieh, senior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan), junior Frankie Willing (Salisbury, Md./Worcester) and sophomore Olivia Mott (Dayton, Md./River Hill) each had two draw controls for R-MC. Snee paced the Yellow Jackets with three caused turnovers.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, March 8, with a 4 p.m. home contest against nationally-ranked St. Mary's at Day Field.
