Hester Leads R-MC Past Sweet Briar on Senior Day

ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Audrey Hester (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) excelled on Senior Day, scoring six goals and amassing three assists as Randolph-Macon swamped Sweet Briar 22-5 in women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Day Field.

The Yellow Jackets (8-6, 5-3) built a 14-2 lead at halftime and rolled through the second half against the Vixens (3-10, 1-7).

Hester had three goals in the first eight minutes as R-MC jumped to a 9-0 lead. She finished with four first-half goals and netted a pair in the second period.

Sophomore Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) had four goals and one assist for the Yellow Jackets. Four players had two goals: sophomore Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) and freshmen Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll), Kristin Patrick (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Kaitlyn Hojnowski (Dundalk, Md./John Carroll).

Sophomore Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) had three assists to go along with one goal. Jamieson and junior Betsy Hebert (Lutherville, Md./Roland Park Country) both contributed two assists.

R-MC held a 38-11 advantage on shots and 30-14 margin on ground balls. Whitman paced the Yellow Jackets with nine draw controls and sophomore Tricia Mangas (Chantilly, Va./Paul VI) led the team with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Freshman goalkeeper Allie Walker (Lutherville, Md./Mercy) recorded three saves.

The Yellow Jackets play their final regular-season home game on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. against Virginia Wesleyan.
