LYNCHBURG, Va. – Senior Audrey Hester (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) led all scorers with six goals as Randolph-Macon outscored Randolph 20-7 Saturday afternoon in ODAC women's lacrosse.
Hester netted her first goal nine seconds into the game on an assist by junior Betsy Hebert (Lutherville, Md./Roland Park Country). The Yellow Jackets (7-5, 4-2) scored the first six goals of the game and sophomore Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) netted three of them as R-MC led 6-0 midway through the first half.
The Wildcats (5-8, 2-4) scored with 14 minutes left in the half before Hebert netted a goal two minutes later and Hester scored her third with two seconds left in the period as R-MC took an 8-1 lead at intermission.
R-MC tallied the first six goals of the second half in building a 14-1 advantage with 22:40 left in the contest. Each team scored six more goals to make the final 20-7.
Whitman finished with four goals, while sophomore Natalie Schnell (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) added three and freshman Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) netted two. Sophomore Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) led the Yellow Jackets with four assists.
Whitman led R-MC with seven draw controls. Freshman goalkeeper Allie Walker (Lutherville, Md./Mercy) recorded seven saves.
R-MC held a 37-16 advantage on shots, including 21-4 in the first half. Randolph-Macon netted at least 20 goals for the third game this season.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, April 9 for a 4:30 p.m. ODAC contest at Shenandoah.
