Hester Nets Three as R-MC Falls to No. 10 W&L

ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Audrey Hester (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) led Randolph-Macon with three goals,  but tenth-ranked Washington & Lee claimed the 13-8 victory in ODAC women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening at Day Field.

The Generals (10-2, 6-0 ODAC) scored the game's first goal 1:13 into the contest before sophomore Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) tied it 2:29 into the period. W&L tallied the next five goals before Hester ended the string to make it 6-2 with 11 minutes left in the first half. The Generals netted the next three before sophomore Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) scored the final goal of the half to make it 9-3 at intermission.

Whitman and Jamieson each scored early in the second half as R-MC (6-5, 3-2 ODAC) pulled within four at 9-5. W&L scored the next four goals to extend the lead to 13-5. Hester netted two of the game's final three goals as the final margin was 13-8.

Whitman led the Yellow Jackets with six draw controls. Freshman goalkeeper Allie Walker (Lutherville, Md./Mercy) recorded six saves and led R-MC with four ground balls.

R-MC returns to action on Saturday, April 5 with 1 p.m. ODAC contest at Randolph.
