Jamieson, Hester Lead R-MC past Medaille in Women's Lacrosse

ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) scored five goals and added two assists, while senior Audrey Hester (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) tallied four goals and two assists as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team downed Medaille 21-9 Wednesday afternoon at Day Field.

Jamieson scored the game's first goal and Hester netted the next three for the Yellow Jackets (3-2) as the home team took a 4-2 lead. The Mavericks (0-3) stayed close, trailing by two at 8-6 with 2:25 left in the first half. Sophomore Alyssa Chavez (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) and Jamieson both scored before the break as R-MC was up 10-6 at intermission.

Jamieson and Hester each scored in the first four minutes of the second half as the Yellow Jackets built a 13-7 lead. Following a Medaille goal, R-MC scored five straight goals and eight of the final nine goals of the game as the Yellow Jackets posted the 21-9 victory.

Sophomore Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) put in three goals, while Chavez and sophomore Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) both netted two.

R-MC held a 22-10 advantage on draw controls. Whitman and freshman Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) both tallied five.

Randolph-Macon begins ODAC play on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m. against Guilford at Day Field.
