LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released on Wednesday the top 25 DIII softball teams in the nation, placing Randolph-Macon at #17. R-MC has gotten off to the best start in program history with a 10-0 record.
The NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll is selected by eight NCAA Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions. R-MC moves into the top 25 after receiving votes in the preseason poll. The number 17 rank is the highest rank the R-MC softball has achieved in program history. R-MC were previously ranked 22nd at the end of the 2013 season.
Last week R-MC went 6-0, sweeping Eastern in a double-header at home. The Yellow Jackets then played at the Beach Blast where they played four opponents in two days, going 4-0. The headline result of the weekend was the 4-2 win over #6 Manhattanville on Friday.
Also ranked was ODAC opponents Virginia Wesleyan at number six.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, March 11 for a double header against Gettysburg at the R-MC Softball Field starting at 12 p.m.
