  • Lynchburg Bests Men’s Tennis
    April 26, 2018
    Senior Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's School) and freshman Alex Hein (Windermere, Fla. / Windermere Preparatory School) got a win in doubles while junior Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va. / James River) and sophomore Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) got wins in singles, but it was not enough to overcome the surging Hornets as Lynchburg bested Randolph-Macon 6-3 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon.
  • Tennis Schedule Changes To Close Out Regular Season

    Rain has been an issue all season for the Randolph-Macon Men's and Women's Tennis teams -- with the last week of the season being no exception. To close out the season, R-MC will play four matches in four days, three of which were originally scheduled for earlier in the season. 
  • Sarver and Berry Get Wins At Hampden-Sydney

    Junior Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va. / James River) and sophomore Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) got singles victories at Hampden-Sydney Sunday afternoon, but the Tigers took the match 7-2 in a conference meeting. R-MC fell to 8-6 and 4-4 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while H-SC went to 11-5 and 5-2 in the ODAC.
  • Men’s Tennis Downs Roanoke 8-1

    Randolph-Macon men’s tennis downed Roanoke 8-1 Saturday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center in Ashland. R-MC is now 8-5 on the season and 4-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Roanoke fell to 1-13 overall and 1-8 in the conference.
  • Men’s Tennis Drops Match to Va. Wesleyan

    Randolph-Macon men’s tennis suffered a 7-2 setback at Virginia Wesleyan Thursday afternoon. The loss dropped R-MC to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference while VWU moved to 11-6 and 6-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

    Randolph-Macon Men’s Tennis had the recipe to tame the Randolph WildCats Saturday as the Yellow Jackets won 8-1.
  • Aprahamian, Berry, Haines Win vs Southern Va.

    Sophomore Jack Aprahamian (Richmond, Va. / Trinity) scored his second victory of the season while the duo of juniors Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) and Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va. / James River) won their doubles match, but Southern Virginia won down the rest of the lineup as R-MC dropped a non-conference match to the Knights 7-2. SVU moved to 13-3 on the season while R-MC moved to 6-4. 
  • Men’s Tennis Defeats Emory & Henry

    Randolph-Macon men’s tennis came back from spring break on a tear, defeating Emory & Henry 9-0 and allowing just 12 total wins in 108 games on the afternoon. The Yellow Jackets are now 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, while E&H falls to 1-11 and 0-6 in the ODAC.
  • Tennis Fundraiser Postponed

    Randolph-Macon's Tennis Fundraiser, set for Saturday, April 7, has been postponed because of impending weather impacting Virginia this weekend. The fundraiser will be rescheduled to a new date this spring.

    Randolph-Macon's Men's and Women's Tennis teams will have to wait to play Guilford; Forecasted rains have postponed the matches for a second time. Weather in the Ashland area have forced four changes to the tennis schedules already this season. 
  • Match Against Southern Virginia Postponed

    The Men's Tennis match against Southern Virginia, scheduled for Tuesday, March 27 at 4:00 PM have been postponed. A make-up date has not been determined. Rain in the Ashland area is forcing the delay.

    Sophomore Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin), Luke Pratson (Leonardtown, Md. / St. Mary's Ryken) and Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va. / James River) defeated their Shoremen opponents on Sunday afternoon, but it was not enough as Washington College secured victory 7-2 in non-conference action at the Banks Tennis Center.
  • Eagles Top Men’s Tennis

    Bridgewater College won the entire doubles competition and three of the top four singles matchups to secure the 6-3 win in conference action in Ashland on Saturday afternoon. R-MC fell to 5-2 and 1-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while BC moved to 6-3 on the season, including 3-0 in the conference.

    The Randolph-Macon Men's and Women's Tennis matches against Centre scheduled for this afternoon have been canceled and will not be made up. This is due to the ice and snow conditions at the Banks Tennis Center.

    The Randolph-Macon Men’s Tennis scored a 9-0 victory over Shenandoah in conference action Sunday at the Banks Tennis Center. Reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, sophomore Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) and senior Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's School) each allowed just two games to their respective opponents.
  • Moulton Closes Tiebreak Set To Push R-MC To 5-4 Win Over UPIKE

    With the match tied 4-4, freshman Erik Moulton (Yorktown, Va. / York) came from three match points behind in a tiebreaker to prove victorious in his #5 singles match against University of Pikeville's Hassan Haider 4-3, 6-3, 1-0 (13-11). His win pushed R-MC into the win column 5-4 for the team's fourth win of the season.
  • Men’s Tennis Score 9-0 Win Against UMass-Boston, Schedule Pikeville Tomorrow

    Randolph-Macon Men’s Tennis scored a 9-0 victory over the visiting UMass-Boston Beacons Wednesday afternoon. The win pushes R-MC to 3-1 on the season while the Beacons fall to 0-3.
  • Sarver Named ODAC Athlete of the Week

    Sophomore Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week in Men’s Tennis. The selection follows Sarvers’ strong performance against Penn State-Abington last week.
  • Matches Against Guilford Postponed

    The impeding weather forecast for the latter half of the weekend has forced a schedule change for the men’s and women’s tennis teams. The matches scheduled for Sunday against Guilford at 12:00 PM will be postponed to a later date. The new date will be announced when finalized.

    The Randolph-Macon Men’s Tennis team was chosen seventh in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league’s coaches and published by the conference Thursday morning. R-MC ended last season sixth in the conference with a 6-4 conference record and an 8-8 overall record.

    Four Randolph-Macon men's tennis student-athletes competed in the 2017 USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championship over the weekend at the University of Mary Washington. The Yellow Jackets were able to collect two wins while competing at the tournament.

  • Men’s Tennis Opens Fall Season Hosting Invitational

    The men’s tennis team kicked off its 2017-2018 campaign with the 2nd Annual Randolph-Macon Men’s Fall Invitational over the weekend. Bridgewater, Virginia Wesleyan and Washington College (Md.) traveled to Ashland to compete with the Yellow Jackets, just two weeks before the Division III ITA Regional at Mary Washington.

    Head Tennis Coach Charles Gray has announced the hiring of Monica Sgritta to the role of assistant coach for the Randolph-Macon College tennis program. Sgritta comes to R-MC with a wealth of experience playing and coaching tennis at multiple Division I programs.
