R-MC Men's Tennis Beats Emory & Henry 7-2

ASHLAND, Va. – The R-MC men's tennis team improved to 6-1 in the ODAC with a 7-2 victory over Emory & Henry on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles, the Yellow Jackets took a 2-1 advantage over the Wasps, winning at #1 and #3 doubles. Freshman Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va./ Mills Godwin) and junior Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va./ St. Christopher's) powered past E&H at number one, winning 8-2.

Senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/ Briar Woods) and freshman Jack Aprahamian (Richmond, Va./ Trinity) improved to 2-0 as a pair winning 8-1.

The Yellow Jackets dropped #1 singles but would win flights 2-6. Sarver picked up his second consecutive win at number two singles winning 6-2, 6-2. At number three, senior Alex Curnow (Culpepper, Va./ Midlothian) won 6-1, 6-3. Senior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./ Menchville) won without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0.

At number five, Bordas won his second match of the day 6-0, 6-3. At six, sophomore Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va./ James River) won his match 6-0, 6-1.

R-MC remains tied in second place with Bridgewater with a 6-1 ODAC record. The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday, April 21 with a home match against Washington & Lee. The match will start at 3 p.m.
