ROANOKE, Va. - Junior Jordan Witherow (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) and freshman Victor Kontopanos (North Chesterfield, Va.) both claimed a pair of individual event victories as the Randolph-Macon men's swimming team topped a pair of opponents in a tri-meet on Saturday evening.
Witherow won the 200 Free in 1:54.07 and the 500 Free in 5:10.61. He teamed with sophomore Matt Howard (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe), junior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) and senior Alex Daube (Hampton, Va./Hampton) to win the 200 Medley Relay in 1:43.47.
Kontopanos took first in the 200 IM in 2:01.98 and the 100 Free in 50.08. He joined with McCarthy, sophomore Jacob Cox (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) and Howard to finish second in the 200 Free Relay in 1:32.98.
McCarthy won the 100 Fly in 56.24.
Howard took first in the 100 Back in 58.95.
Sophomore Sam Runner (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) finished first in the 1000 Free in 10:56.10. He was second in the 500 Free in 5:22.21.
Daube took second in the 100 Breast in 1:03.56. He finished third in the 50 Free in 23.34.
Junior Connor Seif (Trent Woods, N.C./New Bern) placed second in the 1000 Free in 11:00.07.
Randolph-Macon will compete in the 2018 ODAC Championships on Feb. 9-11 in Greensboro, N.C.
