Fadeyev, Kontopanos Lead R-MC Men's Swimming over Marymount 129-73

ASHLAND, Va. - Senior Ivan Fadeyev (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) and freshman Victor Kontopanos (North Chesterfield, Va.) each contributed to three first-place finishes as the Randolph-Macon men's swimming team recorded a 129-73 victory against Marymount Saturday afternoon.

Fadeyev captured three individual events. He won the 200 IM in 2:03.65. Fadeyev finished first in the 200 Back in 2:01.56. He took first in the 200 Breast in 2:17.80.

In the meet's first event, Kontopanos teamed with seniors Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale), Alex Daube (Hampton, Va./Hampton) and Ealon Mann (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) to win the 200 Medley Relay in 1:40.91. Kontopanos won the 200 Fly in 1:59.33. In the final race, Daube, McCarthy, sophomore Matt Howard (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) and Kontopanos finished first in the 200 Free Relay in 1:31.80.

Junior Jordan Witherow (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) registered two firsts and a third. Witherow won the 200 Free in 1:52.72. He outlasted the field in the 500 Free in 5:04.84. Witherow finished third in the 200 Breast in 2:26.52.

Sophomore Sam Runner (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) won the 1000 Free in 10:54.48, followed by junior Connor Seif (Trent Woods, N.C./New Bern) in 11:06.95 and freshman Andrew Carr (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) in 11:38.93. Runner took third in the 500 Free in 5:20.61.

Howard was second in the 200 Free in 1:53.74. He was also second in the 100 Free in 51.90.

Mann took second in the 50 Free in 22.46, followed by Daube in third in 23.20.

McCarthy placed second in the 200 Fly in 2:06.16.

Randolph-Macon returns to the poll on Dec. 1 and 2, hosting the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center in Chesterfield, Va.
