SOMERS, Wis. - Randolph-Macon senior Robert Redenz (Moseley, Va./Cosby) and freshman Laney Sanchez (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) have been named conference Swimmers of the Week by CollegeSwimming for the ODAC.
Both Yellow Jacket swimming teams posted a pair of home victories on Saturday. The men defeated Greensboro 164-32 and downed Ferrum 168-35. The women whipped Greensboro 177-22, while beating Ferrum 175-44.
Redenz earned first-place finishes in three individual events. Redenz won the 1000 Free in 10:15.73, which was a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season. He took first in the 100 Breast in 1:01.31. In the meet's final individual event, Redenz captured the 200 IM in 2:02.93.
Redenz was named ODAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Sanchez registered four firsts for the Yellow Jackets on Saturday. Sanchez won the 100 Breast in 1:12.22. She took first in the 100 Free in 57.32. Sanchez placed first in the 100 Fly in 1:06.64. She teamed with junior Savannah Pierce (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne), junior Anne Woodfin (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) and freshman Lauren McCoy (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) to win the 200 Free Relay in 1:49.33.
Randolph-Macon has concluded its regular-season schedule. The Yellow Jackets will participate in the 2017 OCAC Swimming Championships Feb 10-12 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
