FOREST, Va. - For the second time this season, senior Robert Redenz (Moseley, Va./Cosby) of Randolph-Macon has been named the ODAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Redenz helped R-MC earn a fourth-place finish out of 10 teams at the 2016 Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center in Chesterfield. He swam in three individual events and on four relays.
On Day 1 of the Yellow Jacket Invitational, Redenz finished first out of 48 swimmers in the 200 IM in 1:57.81. It was a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season.
On the second day of competition, Redenz took second out of 35 entries in the 100 Breast in 58.24, which bettered his own event record time of 58.62 set in 2015.
Redenz also finished sixth out of 29 swimmers in the 200 Breast in 2:12.42.
Redenz teamed with junior Ivan Fadeyev (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park), junior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) and junior Ealon Mann (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) to place second out of 18 squads in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:34.64.
Redenz, Mann, junior Alex Daube (Hampton, Va./Hampton) and freshman Matt Howard (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) combined to finish third out of 18 teams in the 200 Free Relay in 1:27.64.
In the 800 Free Relay, Redenz, Fadeyev, McCarthy and Howard took third out of 15 quartets in 7:11.88.
Redenz, Mann, Howard and McCarthy finished fifth out of 19 teams in the meet's final event, the 400 Free Relay, in 3:13.16.
Randolph-Macon returns to the pool on Saturday, Dec. 10 at home at 1 p.m. against York.
