Redenz, Mann Help R-MC Sit Second after Day 1 of ODAC Swim Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Robert Redenz (Moseley, Va./Cosby) and junior Ealon Mann (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) both contributed to a pair of second-place event finishes as the Randolph-Macon men's swimming team placed second after the first day of the 2017 ODAC Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Redenz took second in the 200 IM in 1:54.23, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season.

Mann was runner-up in the 50 Free in 21.10, matching his preliminary time from earlier in the day. It was also a top time for R-MC this season.

Redenz and Mann teamed with junior Alex Daube (Hampton, Va./Hampton) and freshman Matt Howard (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) to take second in the 200 Free Relay in 1:27.07.

Junior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) finished fourth in the 500 Free in 4:46.34, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season.

Junior Ivan Fadeyev (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) finished fourth in the 200 IM in 1:55.67.

Howard was seventh in the 50 Free in 22.31.

Fadeyev, McCarthy, Howard and senior Josh Carter (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) combined to take second in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:36.01.

Day 2 of the 2017 ODAC Swimming Championships will take place on Saturday, with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
