CHESTERFIELD, Va. - Junior Ivan Fadeyev (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) and senior Robert Redenz (Moseley, Va./Cosby) helped the Randolph-Macon men's swimming team earn a fourth-place finish out of 10 teams on Saturday on Day 2 of the 2016 Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center.
Fadeyev finished second out of 23 swimmers in the 200 Back in 1:57.67. He was ninth our of 17 performers in the 400 IM in 4:24.78.
Redenz was second out of 35 entries in the 100 Breast in 58.24, which bettered his own event record time of 58.62 set in 2015.
Fadeyev and Redenz teamed with junior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) and freshman Matt Howard (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) to finish third out of 15 teams in the 800 Free Relay in 7:11.88.
In the 100 Fly, McCarthy was third out of 44 swimmers in 52.24. Junior Ealon Mann (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) was one spot behind in fourth in 52.60.
Fadeyev, McCarthy, Mann and senior Josh Carter (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) had a fourth-place finish out of 18 quartets in the 200 Medley Relay in 1:38.24.
In the 200 Breast, Carter finished third out of 29 swimmers in 2:10.52. Redenz was sith in 2:12.42.
McCarthy was fourth out of 32 in the 200 Fly in 1:57.80.
Redenz, Mann, Howard and McCarthy finished fifth out of 19 in the meet's final event, the 400 Free Relay, in 3:13.16.
Randolph-Macon returns to the pool on Saturday, Dec. 10 at home at 1 p.m. against York.
