CHESTERFIELD, Va. - Senior Robert Redenz (Moseley, Va./Cosby) finished first out of 48 swimmers in the 200 IM for the Randolph-Macon men's swimming team on Day 1 of the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center.
The Yellow Jackets are fourth out of 10 in the team standings.
Redenz swam the 200 IM in 1:57.81, a top time for R-MC this season.
Junior Ivan Fadeyev (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) took second in the 200 IM for the Yellow Jackets in 1:58.11.
Fadeyev and Redenz teamed with junior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) and junior Ealon Mann (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) to place second out of 18 quartets in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:34.64.
In the first event of the meet, Redenz and Mann combined with junior Alex Daube (Hampton, Va./Hampton) and freshman Matt Howard (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) to finish third out of 18 teams in the 200 Free Relay in 1:27.64.
McCarthy came in fourth out of 42 swimmers in the 500 Free in 4:49.11, a top time for the Yellow Jackets this season.
Mann finished fifth out of 59 competitors in the 50 Free in a time of 21.74, a top time for R-MC this season.
The final two sessions of the 2016 Yellow Jacket Invitational will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3. Session 2 will begin at 9 a.m., while the third session is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
