ASHLAND, Va. – The game time for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament match set to be played at R-MC has been determined. Kickoff will happen at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 28. The women's soccer match that was originally set for 2:00 PM will slide to 12:00 Noon. Both matches will be played at the R-MC Soccer Field.
The match will feature the #5 seed, the Hampden-Sydney Tigers against the #4 seeded Yellow Jackets.
The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team is entering the ODAC Tournament with one of its most successful seasons to date. The team finished 13-2-1 and 6-2-1 in ODAC play. It's the first time R-MC has tallied 13 wins since the 2000 season. That season was also the last that the Yellow Jackets got six or more wins in conference play.
Randolph-Macon beat Hampden-Sydney in the regular season, 2-1. In that match, R-MC got goals from sophomore Paul Duffy (Salem, Va. / Salem) and senior Bryan Lutz (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson). Lutz finished the regular season with the most goals of anyone else in the ODAC with 8. He also tallied 18 points, putting him second in the ODAC in that category.
Junior goalkeeper Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson) had the second best goals-against average in the regular season with a 0.60. That was second-best in the ODAC. Breslin and the Jackets tallied ten shutouts in the regular season – second only in R-MC history to the 1993 team that shutout 11 teams in the regular season.
Last year, R-MC won its quarterfinal matchup against Va. Wesleyan 3-1 before getting eliminated by Lynchburg in the semifinals 1-0.
