Owings Mills, Md. – It took an extra nine minutes past regulation for Randolph-Macon to get its fifth win of the season. Freshman Dylan Ogletree (La Plata, Md. / La Plata) beat the Stevenson defense in the 99th minute and pushed the ball into the right side of the net past Mustang keeper Jake Brown for the 1-0 victory.
The win keeps R-MC's slate clean, as not a single goal has been scored against them or Yellow Jacket keeper Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson). Before tonight, only two other teams playing the same amount of games R-MC had played (4, before tonight) had attained the same accolade (Marietta and Johns Hopkins).
Randolph-Macon outshot Stevenson by nearly twice more shots, 23-12. Of those, 11 were on goal. Breslin saved four shots on goal against him and his defensive line performed to its high standard, keeping the balls away from the goal in yet another match.
Anthony Astruc (Glen Allen, Va. / Benedictine), Josh Beeker (Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air) and Jacob McHugh (Aberdeen, Md. / West Nottingham Academy) led the squad with four shots apiece. Two shots for Astruc and McHugh were on goal for each as well. Beeker got the assist for the lone goal in overtime. One of his shots came on goal as well. Paul Duffy (Salem, Va. / Salem) added three shots, all of them coming on goal.
But it was Ogletree who got the clean look at the goal in the final minute of the first overtime on a long Beeker pass who finally ended it. It's Ogletree's first goal of 2017.
Randolph-Macon returns home Saturday a 4:30 to take on St. Mary's (Md.).
