Radnor, Pa. – The Yellow Jackets remain undefeated on the young season, winning at Cabrini Saturday afternoon, 1-0. It's the best start for Randolph-Macon since 2005 when R-MC went 8-0 to begin the season.
The one shot that got by Cabrini's keeper came early in the game. In the ninth minute, sophomore Andrew Griggs (Galloway, N.J/Absegami) sunk a shot along the left side after a pass from sophomore Christian Torres (Stafford, Va./C.D. Hylton). It was Griggs' second goal of the season. This is also Torres's second assist in 2017.
R-MC has not allowed an opponent to score all season, a testament to its strong defense and bench play. The back line only allowed two shots, with only one of them being on goal the whole game. Cabrini was shut out from taking shots in the second half and didn't have a corner kick after halftime either.
Meanwhile, Randolph-Macon only heated up in the second half, taking six shots, with two of them coming on goal. They had taken four in the first half, totaling ten for the game including the one that went in, the only shot on goal in the first half. R-MC goalie junior Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) saved he only goal that came in his direction.
The Yellow Jackets remain on the road for their next game, at Stevenson on Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. They return home for four straight home games beginning next Saturday with St. Mary's (Maryland) at 4:30 P.M.
