Keepers, Pratt Score Twice for R-MC Men's Lacrosse vs. #18 RC

ASHLAND, Va. - Junior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) and sophomore Lee Pratt (Winston-Salem, N.C./Ronald Reagan) both netted a pair of goals as the Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team fell 17-6 to 18th-ranked Roanoke in ODAC play Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Day Field.

The Yellow Jackets evened their record at 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the ODAC. The Maroons moved to 10-3 overall and 6-1 in league play.

RC scored the first four goals of the game before Keepers connected on a pass from junior Miles Muncie (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) to make it 4-1 with 10:15 left in the first quarter. After the Maroons netted the next goal, Keepers scored again on an assist from senior Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) to make it 5-2 with 5:16 left. RC had the final two goals of the period to lead 7-2 after one.

The Maroons had the first five goals of the second quarter before junior Alex Camilliere (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) scored with just under five minutes remaining as RC led 12-3 at intermission. R-MC held a 9-8 advantage in face offs in the first hlaf.

After RC tallied the first two goals of the second half, Pratt finished an unassisted goal with 6:20 left in the third quarter. The Maroons had the final two goals of the period to lead 16-4.

After the Maroons scored the first goal of the final quarter, Pratt put in his second goal with 3:32 remaining. Freshman Ryan Tiffey (Colombia, Md./Wilde Lake) had the final goal of the game with 8.8 seconds left on an assist by freshman Brendan Markovic (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) to make the final 17-6.

Senior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) had 16 saves in 52 minutes for R-MC. He also led the Yellow Jackets with four ground balls. Mayer, senior David Cryster (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) and freshman Joe Maranto (Joppa, Md./Fallston) each had three ground balls. Maranto won 11 face offs for the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon will travel to Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 19 for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest.
