Childers Finishes Ninth, R-MC Men's Golf Fourth at Shenandoah Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. - Junior Chase Childers (Issue Md./La Plata) shot two-over 73 on Monday to finish in a tie for ninth out of 77 individuals, helping the Randolph-Macon men's golf team to fourth place finish of 14 teams after the second and final round of the Shenandoah Invitational at the Winchester Country Club.

The Yellow Jackets were one shot behind third-place Bridgewater and six strokes behind second-place Mary Washington. R-MC was the only team to have all five of its golfers shoot both rounds in the 70's.

Childers fired a 75 in Round 1 on Sunday and improved by two strokes on Monday.

Senior Matt McDonagh (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) finished in a tie for 14th at 150 (74-76), followed by sophomore Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) at 153 (75-78), and senior Peter Shaner (Lexington Va./Rockbridge County) and junior Trey Razzetti (Glen Allen, Va./Benedictine) both shot 156. Shaner went 79-77, while Razzetti went 78-78.

Randolph-Macon will host the Ted Keller Memorial on Oct. 9-10 at the Hanover Country Clum.
