McDonagh Ninth, R-MC Men's Golf Fourth at Shenandoah Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. - Senior Matt McDonagh (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) fired a three-over 74 to sit in a tie for ninth out of 77 individuals, helping the Randolph-Macon men's golf team to fourth place out of 14 teams Sunday in the first round of the Shenandoah Invitational at the Winchester Country Club.

The Yellow Jackets are one shot behind third-place Virginia Wesleyan and two strokes behind second-place Mary Washington.

Junior Chase Childers (Issue Md./La Plata) and sophomore Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) are one shot behind McDonagh at 75, followed by junior Trey Razzetti (Glen Allen, Va./Benedictine) at 78 and senior Peter Shaner (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) at 79.

R-MC was one of two teams which had all five golfers shoot in the 70's.

The second and final round will be held on Monday, Sept. 18.
