ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon College has hired Tim Wehner '08 as head coach for men's golf.
Wehner replaces Ed Turnage '64, who retired after 10 years as R-MC men's golf coach.
Wehner was a four-year letter-winner (2004-08) and two-year captain on the Yellow Jacket men's golf team. R-MC won the ODAC Championship in 2005.
"We are excited to have Tim involved with Yellow Jacket golf again," said Jeff Burns, R-MC Director of Athletics. "Tim has a unique background in business and coaching, and should provide excellent leadership with our men's golf program."
In the spring of 2008, Wehner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
"I'm eager to continue the established tradition of the R-MC men's golf program and build on the positive momentum created over the past 10 years by Coach Turnage," Wehner said. "The student-athletes that come through this program have a great opportunity to be a part of the R-MC community and I'm here to make sure they take advantage of those opportunities and experiences on and off the golf course. I'm grateful that Coach Burns reached out and I'm excited to get going with the talented group we have in the program now."
Wehner is a Vice President for Single Family Management at Dodson Property Management in Richmond, Va. He oversees the day-to-day operations for that line of business at Dodson and played an integral role in its growth to nearly 100 employees.
Since the fall of 2009, Wehner has served as either an assistant or head basketball coach at the ninth grade and junior varsity levels at Benedictine Prep in Goochland, Va.
