COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Freshman Buzz Anthony (Arnold, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the visitors with 10 points and dished out three assists as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team dropped an 88-44 decision at Maryland Thursday evening at the Infinity Center.
The Yellow Jackets trailed by one at 5-4 before UM used a 9-2 run to take a 14-6 lead seven minutes into the contest. R-MC scored three straight to cut the deficit to five before the Terps tallied four straight to go up 18-9 with 8:50 left in the first half. Senior Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) sank a three-pointer to cut it to six at 20-14 with just under eight minutes remaining in the period. The Yellow Jackets trailed 30-21 with 4:20 on the clock before the Terps scored 17 straight points to take a 47-21 lead with 15 seconds remaining. Freshman David Funderburg (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) made a layup with 1.7 seconds left to make it 47-23 at the break. Noe led the Yellow Jackets with eight first-half points in seven minutes.
