Taylor Tallies 16 as R-MC Falls at WPU

RALEIGH, N.C. - Junior Michael Taylor (Apex, N.C./Grace Christian) tallied 16 points as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team fell 77-64 at William Peace Wednesday evening.

Taylor hit six field goals and went 4 for 6 from the free throw line. He also grabbed seven rebounds for the Yellow Jackets (2-6).

Freshman Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) hit a pair of free throws one minute into the game to give the Yellow Jackets an early 2-1 lead before the Pacers (5-3) used a 13-2 spurt to take a 14-4 advantage. R-MC scored five straight to cut the deficit to five at 14-9 before a 30-11 run gave WPU a 44-20 lead before taking a 46-26 advantage at halftime. The Pacers hit 10 of 17 shots behind the arc in the first period, while the Yellow Jackets were 0 for 9.

A layup by Noe with just over 12 minutes remaining in the second half cut the margin to 12 at 55-43. WPU put together a 21-6 run to take its largest lead at 76-49 with four minutes left. R-MC closed the game with a 15-1 spurt to make the final 77-64.

Freshman Grayson Midulla (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) scored a season-high 13 points for the Yellow Jackets, going 5 for 8 from the floor, 2 for 3 on three-pointers and 1 for 1 from the free throw line. He had nine total points on the season coming into the game.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Monday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. vs. Bryn Athyn in the first round of the Coaches Tournament sponsored by Kay Jewelers.
