SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Randolph-Macon field hockey team finished its 2016 season with and 8-0 win over Sweet Briar. R-MC finished the season 3-14 and 1-7 in the ODAC.
Senior Katiee Nicholas (Virginia Beach, Va./ Tallwood) finished her Yellow Jacket career with three goals including the game winning goal. Junior Victoria Cappadorra (Manchester, Md./ Manchester Valley) also scored three goals and recorded one assist.
R-MC scored three goals in the first half. Nicholas scored her first of three goals in the 12th minute of the game. Cappadorra scored the second with an assist from senior Julia Bowling (Charlotte Hall, Md./ St. Mary's Ryken). Nicholas finished the scoring off in the first half.
R-MC outshot Sweet Briar 44-0. That marks the second clean sheet for the defense and junior goalkeeper Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./ Louisa County).
Cappadorra scored the first two goals of the second half, with assists from Bowling and freshman Riley Greenwood (Chesapeake, Va./ Western Branch).
Senior Kali Carroll (Earlysville, Va./ Albemarle) scored on her final game for the Yellow Jackets in the 52nd minute, with Bowling's third assist.
Nicholas then completed her hat trick in the 53rd minute with an assist from freshman Tina Staley (North Beach, Md./ Northern).
Bowling competed her fantastic game, this time on the scoring end of the play, as Cappadorra set her up, finishing the scoring at 8-0.
R-MC finished the season with two wins in the last four matches. Katiee Nicholas ended up the goals and points leader for the Yellow Jackets with five goals and 13 points.
