Stanley Makes 18 Saves in OT Loss to EMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Randolph-Macon field hockey team were defeated 3-2 by EMU in OT on Wednesday night. Junior Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./ Louisa County) made 18 saves on the night.

R-MC took the lead in the game through freshman Riley Greenwood (Chesapeake, Va./ Western Branch). That marked Greenwoods first collegiate goal for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets would take the 1-0 lead into halftime. The second half saw the Royals storm back and take the lead.
EMU scored in the 39th and 49th minutes to give the Royals the 2-1 advantage.
Then, with just 10 minutes remaining, the Yellow Jackets were able to find the equalizer. Freshman Lauren Petty (Gloucester, Va./ Gloucester) scored her first collegiate goal as well, leveling the scores at 2-2.
 
The Yellow Jackets (2-14, 0-7 ODAC) were unable to hold EMU (7-9, 2-5 ODAC) in overtime. EMU had a series of penalties corners and were able to put one away in OT, giving them the 3-2 victory.
 
Stanley made 18 saves, bringing her total to 165 for the season.
 
R-MC will finish out its season when it travels to face Sweet Briar on Saturday at 3 p.m.
