Migliorini Named to 2018 Preseason All-America Team

ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon senior outfielder Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) has been named to the 2018 D3baseball.com Preseason All-America First Team, as announced on Friday. He was the only player from the ODAC and from the state of Virginia to make First Team, Second Team or Honorable Mention.

Migliorini earned All-America Second Team honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and by D3baseball.com in 2017. He was All-South Region First Team by the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com. Migliorini was the state Player of the Year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), the ODAC Player of the Year and All-ODAC First Team. He led the ODAC and was 23rd in the nation with a slugging percentage of .712, and was second in the conference with nine home runs and with an on-base percentage of .484. Migliorini was third in the league with a batting average of .399, fourth with 45 RBI and fifth with 47 runs. He was also in the Top Ten in the ODAC with 61 hits, 13 doubles, four triples and 26 walks. Migliorini led the Yellow Jackets with 21 multi-hit games and was second with 13 multi-RBI games. He had a 14-game hit streak during the season and had a streak of 31 consecutive games reaching base safely.

Strong in the classroom as well, Migliorini was member of the 2016-17 VaSID Academic All-State Team and an ODAC All-Academic Team selection. He is majoring in Business/Economics.

Under head coach Ray Hedrick, Randolph-Macon posted an overall record of 26-15 a season ago and went 13-7 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets were the No. 3 seed in the ODAC Tournament. R-MC was in the national polls for the majority of the season, ranked as high as No. 6.

The Yellow Jackets were receiving votes in the Collegiate Baseball 2018 NCAA Division III Preseason Poll. R-MC has either been in the poll or receiving votes for 34 of the past 35 national rankings.

Randolph-Macon is scheduled to open the 2018 campaign at home on the third weekend in February. The Yellow Jackets have a three-game series with RPI, playing on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader at noon on Sunday, Feb. 18 on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
