R-MC Baseball Back in Top Ten in National Polls

ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon baseball team is ranked as high as No. 10 in the three national Division III polls.

The Yellow Jackets climbed one place to 10th in the Perfect Game poll. R-MC bumped up two spots from No. 13 to No. 11 in the D3baseball.com poll. The Yellow Jackets moved to 13th in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball poll.

R-MC went 3-1 last week. The Yellow Jackets defeated Virginia Wesleyan 13-0 on Tuesday and York 10-6 on Thursday, both at home. R-MC split an ODAC doubleheader on Saturday at Eastern Mennonite, falling 6-5 in the opener before taking the nightcap 9-7.

The Yellow Jackets are 23-8 overall and 11-4 in ODAC play, good for third in the league standings.

Under head coach Ray Hedrick, the Yellow Jackets have been ranked for 32 consecutive weeks, dating back to March 17, 2015.

Randolph-Macon will host Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets will entertain top-ranked Shenandoah on Saturday for a noon ODAC doubleheader on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
