ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon baseball team is ranked as high as No. 11 in the three national Division III polls.
The Yellow Jackets moved to 11th in the Perfect Game poll. The Yellow Jackets were 15th in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball poll. R-MC was No. 16 in the D3baseball.com poll.
R-MC went 2-2 last week. The Yellow Jackets dropped two of their first three games last week before rallying for four runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat first-place Washington & Lee 6-4 in Game 2 of Saturday's ODAC doubleheader.
The Yellow Jackets are 18-7 overall after their 12-9 victory over nationally-ranked Christopher Newport on Tuesday. R-MC is 7-3 in ODAC play, good for third in the league standings.
Under head coach Ray Hedrick, the Yellow Jackets have been ranked for 30 consecutive weeks, dating back to March 17, 2015.
R-MC was one of four ODAC schools recognized in the national polls. Shenandoah is No. 1 in each of the three polls. Roanoke is No. 18 in the Perfect Game poll and receiving votes in the D3baseball.com poll. W&L is receiving votes in two of the polls.
Randolph-Macon will host Lynchburg on Saturday, April 8 for a noon ODAC doubleheader on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park. It will be Dugout Day, as the R-MC baseball program celebrates its alumni, fans and supporters. The 1977 NCAA Regional team will also be recognized.
