2016 Rock It Holiday Camp Release
2016 Rock It Holiday Camp Release

ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon Baseball head coach Ray Hedrick is excited to announce dates for Jacket Diamond Holiday Camps hosted by RockIt Sports Indoor Training Facility.  The Holiday Youth Skills Camp and the annual Holiday Hitting Camp will take place Tuesday, December 27 - Thursday, December 29, 2016.

New to the regime is the Holiday Youth Skills Camp, which is a 3-day camp with 2 ½ hours’ worth of skills and drills.  Instruction will cover the fundamentals of Infield play, Throwing, Base running, Outfield Play, Hitting and Pitching.  This camp will be offered to 8 - 12 year olds only.  Along with skill and drill stations, the campers will also have the opportunity to play games, which will emphasize the skills taught earlier in camp.  In addition to developing baseball skills, the R-MC Baseball staff is hoping campers continue to develop a love for the game.

Our annual Holiday Hitting Camp is a 3-day camp with 2 ½ hour instructional hitting sessions daily.  We are offering this camp to 13 -18 year olds only. Campers will receive individual instruction from Randolph-Macon College’s coaching staff, current and former players.  There will be a focus each day about an aspect of hitting that will entail drills to follow, applying those certain offensive principles. Up-to-date video technology will be used to help analyze/breakdown each campers swing.

Due to the individualized attention provided to campers, enrollment is a first come, first serve basis and will be limited to 60 per session.

Hosting our Jacket Diamond Holiday Camps is RockIt Sports Indoor Training Facility, directed by former Yellow Jacket baseball player George Bland ’96.  Bland was driven to provide ever-growing need for quality, personalized instruction in athletics which in his eyes serves as a platform for the development of critical life skills.  Along with Bland, the list of connections with RockIt Sports and R-MC Baseball goes on.  Assistant Director Austin Carpenter ’13, Director of Baseball Adam Taylor ’99, Coaches Brian Toland ’96 and Glenn McLaughlin ’13 all wore the Black & Lemon proudly on the diamond.
