R-MC Athletics Adds Three New Awards to 2017 Champions Dinner

ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Athletics are pleased to announce the addition of three new awards to the 2017 Champions Dinner.

R-MC will present two awards to student-athletes and one award to an R-MC athletic team.

The first award is the 2016-17 Randolph-Macon Athletics Play of the Year. Eleven plays of the best plays from 11 different sports teams were selected and nominated for this year's award. Watch the video below, and vote on your favorite play! Voting for the preliminary round will close on Sunday, May 7 at 12 a.m. and the three plays with the most votes will be announced as finalists. Another voting round from Monday, May 8- Friday, May 12 will take place, the play with the most votes will receive the 2016-17 Randolph-Macon Athletics Play of the Year!

The second award that will be given will be the 2016-17 Randolph-Macon Athletics Performance of the Year. The award selects the best individual performance in one game, match or event across all of the 17 varsity sports that R-MC sponsors. The nominees will be announced on Monday, May 8 and the winner will be selected by the R-MC Awards Committee and announced at the Champions Dinner on Saturday, May 13.

The third newest award at the Champions Dinner will be the 2016-17 Randolph-Macon Athletics Moment of the Year. This award recognizes the best moment from any sports team this season, including upsets, championships, and rivalry wins! The award will be selected by the R-MC Awards Committee and announced on Saturday!

At the banquet winners of the Compton and De Nagi, Hugh Stephens Coach of the Year and the Doggett Academic awards will be announced.

The Champions Dinner will be held the evening of Saturday, May 13 in the Brock Center.
